RECAP OF WEEK 6

Another week is behind us, and this summer keeps bringing new experiences, new stories, and new challenges. We keep learning a lot every day and making the most of our time here in Arkansas.

Otto and Jakub kicked off work in Benton, where they met a bunch of awesome families and made some great connections.

Michal got to experience holding a little baby duck for the first time, which was definitely one of the more wholesome moments of the week.

Meanwhile, Sunday was a bit different with an online meeting, which gave us more time to spend with our host families and enjoy the day together.

Ondro helped out around the host family’s house in Searcy, while Otto and Jakub did the same in Little Rock. At the same time, Emil, Marek, and Eddie went for a workout to pump those biceps and then joined their host family for lunch, to eat what they burned in the gym!

RECAP OF WEEK 5 🤩

Another week is behind us and with each passing day we keep getting more used to life here in Arkansas. The habits are becoming routine, the days are moving faster, and we’re still collecting new stories and experiences every week. 🇺🇸

This week Otto met Zuzana, an American girl who spent 13 years living in Slovakia. It was really cool to hear her perspective and to connect over such a unique experience. Moments like that make this summer even more special.
Ondrej had one of those days you don’t forget fast. He got not one, but two flat tyres in the same day, turning a normal workday into a real test of patience and problem-solving.
Jakub also got to visit Marek Novak while he was working in the countryside, and that visit turned into a pretty wild story when a very energetic dog forced him to jump into the car through the window. Definitely one of those moments we won’t forget any time soon. 😄

We wrapped up the week in Searcy where we talked about the week, relaxed a bit, and then headed to the cinema to watch Toy Story 5. 🎬 It was a great way to finish another busy week together.

RECAP OF WEEK 4 IN THE USA

We’ve built our habits and we’re sticking to them, which means we’re getting better experiences every week and making the most of our time here in the USA. We’re learning, exploring, and collecting memories that will stay with us for a long time.

During the week, Eddie got an unforgettable offer from a very kind man who suggested he would pay for books with chickens. Do you think he agreed?

Michal will be driving around in his new Chevy Malibu, which will make traveling from family to family much easier.

On Saturday we worked during the day and after work we went to watch the fireworks and enjoy the celebrations for Independence Day . It was the perfect way to end the holiday.

On Sunday we met in Searcy, where we shared stories from the whole week and had a lot of laughs together. After the meeting, the group around Ondrej went to cook proper Slovak halušky for their host family as a sign of gratitude, while the rest of us went to check out Harding University in Searcy, which looked really amazing.

WEEK 3 is DONE!

Thanks to the fact that we stayed focused on hitting the standards during the first weeks, this week we were able to put our energy into getting customers and working toward the dedication award. At the same time, we never forget that attitude rules and the schedule is king. 💪
During the week we met many great families. Emil got to experience presenting books with a dog nearby 🐶, Eddie got to see what it feels like to show up in full uniform, and Michal got his turn driving the Ford Mustang 🚗. These kinds of moments are what make memories for life.
We also welcomed the last member of our team and the only bookgirl of this summer, Natalia, who already managed to get her first sitdowns! 🔥 We’re excited to have her with us.
Another great addition to the team was our bookmobile, which will help us reach even more families in the hills of Little Rock. 🚙
As always, we ended the week in Searcy, where we reviewed the week, received our green shirts and pony socks for our Week 2 work, and celebrated with some ice cream🍦.

RECAP OF WEEK 2 IN THE FIELD

Another week in the bookfield is behind us – and slowly but surely, we are turning into professional problem-solvers. The doors are getting more familiar and the team is getting stronger every single day.

This week we also welcomed our OL Marek Novak, who arrived in style and wasted no time – the whole town of Carlisle already knows who he is. And yes, arriving in style also meant heading straight to the car service – true bookfield spirit.

A special shoutout goes to Otto, who proved that nothing stops a real bookfield mindset. Despite a broken arm and a surgery, he worked a full Saturday after Friday’s follow day. That kind of grit is what this program is all about.

At our Sunday meeting some of us received their success t-shirts for units sold – a well earned recognition. We also had a speech from experienced salesman Michal Plochan – always great to hear from someone who has been through it all.

We wrapped up the week in Searcy where we got to experience some proper American fun at the skate rink.

RECAP OF OUR FIRST WEEKS OF WORK

Week Zero

Started a bit wild – because of a complication with renting a car we had an unexpected overnight stay in Memphis , but as a team we like to say that we eat problems for breakfast.

It was also the first time our first years really tried working in the field instead of just hearing about it in trainings. On Sunday we met in Searcy in the boarding room where we talked through our priorities and focuses for the first week on the doors.

Week One

It was our first full week of door-to-door work here in Arkansas. Most of the first years got to follow their managers – Ondrej, Emil, and Martin – and see what a professional day looks like from morning till evening.

Some of us got our very first customers , but the main focus is still on building the right habits and work ethic, not just chasing numbers.

We wrapped up the week together again in Searcy, this time outside, sharing our wins, lessons, and funny stories from the first full week.

We also celebrated Eddie’s birthday and surprised him with some small gifts from the families we had the chance to meet.

We want to thank our families at home and our girlfriends for their support , and the families here in Arkansas for their hospitality and trust this first week.

3 Texas book slingers finishing their first week! Coming from saleschool with a lot of positive energy and knowledge, we were already able to use in our first week! Cool stories? There’s bunch of em! First one is that everyone loves dogs and dogs loves us so much that they wanted to play, and we got away from lil bites. How cool is that! Three of us almost at the same day!
Continue with nice 105°F converted to around 40°C, the temperature when you can cook an egg on the hood of the car. Hundreds of bottles in car, hundreds of liters drank and thousands of sweat drops. That’s what it takes to survive in Texas. Although Texas people are very chill and relaxed, going with the flow of the weather.
Week one day one just getting started, building the right habits and work ethics and ready to rock this summer!

Texbooks org- prepared to rock and roll! Some of us are approaching the summer, joining first sales school, some of us are still finishing the exams and doing cycles at home! After a while a looot of Bookpeople are returning back to USA and we’re all prepared as we never was!

Jesajken organization in Minnesota

‘Minnesota? HERE WE GO!!! Average temperature 24-28 degrees, more than 10 000 lakes, our awesome NHL hockey player Marian Gaborik played for Minnesota wild… This summer is going to be amazing!’ – This was our first thought when our Jesajken org found out the country we are going to work in. And then we came to the bookfield. Heart attacks before first knocks, weather behaves like a roller coaster, our first slam doors, first blue light award nominees, lack of host families and first emotional breakdowns. Since we came to this beautiful country, we have experienced lots of different situations, which we were used to laughed at, when our student managers had been telling us stories from theirs’ past summers. Now it wasn’t funny at all! We went through a lot of things that wasn’t even similar to what we were used to back home. Well, time went on and we woke up every day, we had a cold shower, we went to a breakfast place and then went to our turf, because even when it was hard, we were committed to accomplish what we had set before our summer work started. Every other day. Again and again. We were getting more and more challenges on daily basis. But our will was stronger than that. It’s like one man said – if there is a will, there is a way. Our OL Veronika Kunikova, our powerful student managers, our DSL Erki Kukk and E1 radio attitude boosters helped us with our motivation. So here we stay, together, with our belief, comitted, strong, powerful, forced, persistent to ACHIEVE OUR GOALS! Even when it is hard, even when there is another slam, unhappy mom or heavy rain. We don’t give up when things get hard, we are here day by day and in every way we are getting better anyway. On Sundays, we have our meetings, where we share our stories from our turfs, founding out that bookfield is really magical place. Naked moms, people with relatives on the death bed, angry and weird dogs and many more. We are slowly getting used to standards here. Anyways, we are moving forward we believe in each other, we support each other and we are creating the most self-developing summer that we could ever imagine. Let’s rock even more!

Hey there! We are SpicySlav

We are college students from different countries in Europe – Estonia, Latvia and Slovakia. Our whole summer we will spend in Texas helping families with education.

We work with the company Southwestern Advantage, so our first destination was in Nashville, Tennessee. We had 4 days of Sales School, where we learned all about selling and how to prepare for the fun summer job.

The weather in Nashville was so humid and hot, but we were working hard to practice more before summer. After Sales School we took a plane to Texas. We have two cities where we will be working this summer – Amarillo and Lubbock. In Amarillo and the surroundings were filmed movies like Indiana Jones. Lubbock has been rated to be America’s second most conservative city.
